Do you know the Montjuic Castle? It is an excellent place to go to learn more about the history of Barcelona and to see incredible views of the city.

Very close to our family hotel in the Parallel, there is the Montjuic mountain, on top of which is the famous Montjuic Castle which, with its canyons and incredible views, is, without a doubt, a site worth visiting.

This fortress was built by the Spanish Army and played a very important role in the history of Barcelona. Today it belongs to the Barcelona City Council and you can go visit it.

HISTORY OF THE CASTLE OF MONTJUIC

This fortress, which began to be built in the 17th century, played a very important role in various episodes in the history of Barcelona such as the assault of the Castilian troops commanded by the Marquis de los Vélez in 1641, the bombing of Barcelona from the castle in 1842, or the confinement of those detained during the Tragic Week in 1909, among other events. During these centuries the fortress was built and adapted according to the needs of the times and those who owned it at all times.
