The Gothic neighborhood, known for its medieval layout of narrow pedestrian streets and hidden squares, is one of the<\/span>neighborhoods<\/span> most charming in the city, but also one of the most touristic. In this area you will find a mix of recent and old buildings, as well as a wide variety of places of interest. Welcome to the heart of Barcelona.<\/span>Brief history<\/b>In the Gothic neighborhood, specifically around the Plaza Sant Jaume, the Roman colony of Barcino settled. Founded between 15 and 10 BC, in a few centuries it became an economic and commercial center, exerting great influence throughout the region and the Mediterranean.
\nIn fact, in the central Plaza Real in the Gothic Quarter, are the remains of the Temple of Augustus, a Roman temple dedicated to the emperor.
